Autumn in Florida and Pest Control makes for a busy season. Summertime in Florida means bugs. Lots of them. Those from up north (New York, etc) will remember how after labor day which falls in early September, the summer is over! That means no more swimming, fishing or bugs. In the subtropical state of Florida, that’s not the case. Here we enjoy warm whether throughout the year.
Sure, we have some cold nights and there’s a few weeks that may keep us out of an unheated pool. Still, the nights may be cold but by 10 or 11AM things usually warm up nicely. We’re able to go fishing all year ’round. The only drawback to this is the bugs since they don’t take much of a break either. Often times, certain species of insects like the palmetto bug and ghost ants make their presence known inside of home during the cooler months. Then of course, comes the height of rodent season! For the most part we’re talking about squirrels and rats. It seems as though these critters don’t care for the cooler nights very much. Indeed, our rodents in Florida are spoiled! This is why they find their way into your home; most of the time invading the attic space.
Autumn in Florida and Pest Control Part 2
The biggest problem small animals and rodents create is a fire hazard in the attic. They tend to chew on exposed wires making for a very dangerous situation. If you hear noises in the attic or find other evidence such as droppings, it’s best not to wait. The sooner the problem is addressed the less damage rodents and other small animals are able to do.
