Well, here we are again, it’s Thanksgiving time at Meryl’s Termite and Pest Control. It seems 2014 is quickly coming to an end and it’s been a great year for Meryl’s Termite and Pest Control.
Already it seems that the earlier post on our prediction of a cooler and wetter winter may be coming true. We actually had record low temperatures last week with several feet of snow up in the northern states. That cold air found it’s way down to us here in central Florida, and the rodent control calls keep pouring in. Surprisingly we are still seeing activity from some pests which are usually toned down during the cooler months as we are still getting pest control calls for ants and fleas. All in all, it’s turning our to be a busy autumn for us.
With the wet and hot summer that we’ve had in 2014 all eyes are now on this year’s termite season and termite control. Swarming activity has been lower than normal the last several years with spotty areas of swarmers. However, this does not mean that termite activity itself has slowed down, to the contrary, the termites are alive and well and doing more damage than ever since they are still feeding but not giving the obvious signs or clues that an infestation is present. Termite swarms are simply the reproductives. A healthy termite colony can go several years without a termite swarm. This is why inspections, preventative treatments, and re-treatments are still so very important.
All of us here at Meryl’s Termite and Pest Control would like to wish you a very happy and healthy Thanksgiving and special thanks to all our customers old and new!
